Handmade by the DAVA collective of Zapotec women in San Dionisio Ocotepec (Oaxaca, Mexico), our face masks offer an effective, safe, and comfortable solution for your health needs due to air pollution and contagious diseases such as COVID-19, transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks.
Since DAVA , a local shoe and sandal company, had to close its store in Oaxaca City due to the Coronavirus pandemic, each face mask sold generates income for more than 7 local artisan families (over 50 people) working in our workshop and supply chain, that otherwise would have been lost.
These masks provide at least 50% protection to their users and others, don’t create more unrecyclable trash, and preserve Mexican jobs.
Our face masks can be purchased for personal use, distribution, or for donation to Oaxacan communities without the resources to acquire them.
As there’s a shortage of face masks in Mexico, DAVA is working to fulfill the demand within poverty stricken areas to help protect communities against the Coronavirus.
Your donation will not only support the local artisan families who make these masks with us, but also the communities who are at risk. We are partnering with the Mexican non-profit Tejiendo Alianzas to receive donations and distribute the donated face masks in Oaxaca. In the photos below appear some of the recipients of donated masks.
Everyone should have access to well-made products that benefit their health and local economies. Take care of yourself and others by purchasing or donating handmade face masks by DAVA!
